The Watchbillby LatticeDDI

Who's on watch.

A down client site becomes a ticket.

The Watchbill checks the client websites an MSP looks after. On Pro and Business, when a site goes down it sends an email to the address your ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, or Syncro system already turns into tickets. Your client gets a status page, and the ticket lands in the queue your technicians already watch.

What it is

The Watchbill keeps a list of the client websites you look after and checks each one about once a minute over HTTPS. When you add a site, it sends one test email so you know alerts reach you. After that, it emails only when the site goes down or comes back up. You choose where that email goes and can add a short note to it. Each client can also have a status page, which stays private until you publish it and send them the link.

Each check watches one target, such as a client's homepage. The free plan covers 5 checks. Starter is $9.00 a month or $90.00 a year for 50 checks, Pro is $15.00 a month or $150.00 a year for 100, and Business is $29.00 a month or $290.00 a year for 250. On Pro and Business, you can add 100 more checks at a time for $8.00 a month or $96.00 a year each, on the same bill. Email alerts come with every plan, and Pro and Business can also send ticket email, a webhook, a Microsoft Teams message, or a PagerDuty alert. The Watchbill is a service of LatticeDDI, LLC and runs on Cloudflare.

Every minute Each client site gets its own check, about once a minute.

Email on every plan Alerts go to the address you choose, with a short note if you add one.

A page you publish Each client's status page stays private until you decide to share it.

How it works

  1. Add a client site. A check is one thing you want watched, such as the homepage of a client you support. Each site has its own monitor, so a busy client never holds up the checks for anyone else.
  2. Checked every minute, with 90 days of history. The Watchbill checks each site about once a minute and keeps 90 days of results, which you can see in your account and on a published status page. The same check also tracks when the site's domain name expires and whether its certificate is trusted, without using extra checks.
  3. An email when something changes. When you add a site, you get one test email while The Watchbill confirms its state. After that, you get an email only when the site goes down or comes back up. If you leave the alert address blank, the email goes to the address you signed up with, and you can add a short note to every message. Email alerts are included on every plan, including Free.
  4. A status page, if you want the client to see it. Each page stays private until you publish it. Once it's published, it shows any open outage and when it started.

Who it is for

MSPs and IT shops. You support a list of small businesses. When one of their websites goes down, you want to know which one before the phone rings, and you want a page you can send them instead of a screenshot. The free plan lets you try it on one client before you buy anything.

Small businesses watching their own sites. If you just want to know when your own website goes down, the free plan gives you five checks and an email when something breaks.

Either way, The Watchbill should be one of your alarms, not the only one. Any check can miss an outage, and our acknowledgement explains that plainly.

Start Business

On Pro or Business, you can add 100 more checks for $8 a month or $96 a year, billed with your plan.

Monthly plans are billed once a month and annual plans once a year, and any extra checks appear on that same bill. A yearly block of extra checks costs $96.00, which is twelve months at $8.00.

A check is one monitored target, such as one URL on a client's site. You can cancel renewal from your account.

What a check does not promise

The Watchbill's checks run on Cloudflare's network. They're placed by region on a best-effort basis, so we never label a result with a city unless a checker actually ran there.

If a client's site sits behind a CDN, firewall, or proxy (such as Cloudflare, Akamai, or Fastly), a green result means that service answered. It may be a cached copy, which isn't the same as the client's own server answering. You can turn on "must not be served from cache" for that site when you need to know the server itself responded.

Alerts that land where your team already works

Every plan includes the once-a-minute check, 90 days of history, the domain and certificate checks, and email alerts. Pro and Business can also send alerts to the destinations you add on your account page.

A signed webhook. The Watchbill sends one HTTPS request when a site goes down and another when it recovers. The body is signed, so your receiver can confirm it came from The Watchbill.

Ticket email. Alerts go to the address that ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, or Syncro already turns into tickets.

Microsoft Teams. A message posts in the channel your team already watches, through a Teams Workflows URL.

PagerDuty. The down alert and the recovery share one PagerDuty incident, so the recovery resolves it.

Up to three alert addresses. The same up and down emails for a check can go to you, a technician, and the client.

Your name and logo. A published status page can show your company's name and logo. The page still says it's operated by LatticeDDI, LLC, and its address stays on thewatchbill.com.

Free and Starter send email alerts only. Every destination sends when a site goes down and again when it recovers.

Questions

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 5 checks at no charge, which is enough to try The Watchbill on a client site.

What counts as a check?

A check is one monitored target, such as a client's homepage URL. Starter includes 50 checks, Pro includes 100, and Business includes 250. On Pro and Business, you can add as many blocks of 100 extra checks as you need, at $8.00 a month or $96.00 a year each, on the same bill.

Where do checks run?

On Cloudflare's network, placed by region on a best-effort basis. We don't label a result with a city unless a checker actually ran there.

Can a client see their own status?

You can always see it in your account. A client can see it only through the private link that appears once you publish their page, and that link isn't based on the client's name.

Who receives the email?

Each check has one alert address. If you leave it blank, alerts go to the email you signed up with, and you can add a short note to every message. Pro and Business can add two more addresses to each check.

Can the client page show our name?

Yes, on Pro and Business. You set a name and logo on your account page. The page still says it's operated by LatticeDDI, LLC, and its address stays on thewatchbill.com. Business can remove the Monitoring by The Watchbill line. The operator line stays.

What do Pro and Business destinations do?

They can send a signed webhook, a ticket email, a Microsoft Teams message, and a PagerDuty alert. Ticket email goes to the address ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, or Syncro already turns into tickets. You add destinations on your account page, and they send when a site goes down and again when it recovers. Free and Starter use email alerts only.

When the site goes down, the ticket opens.
